Guru Forum Charter
Version 1 · published 23 October 2026
Version 1
The Guru community board is where Gurus say what should be built next and how the platform should work for them, and where MediumGuru accounts for what it did with the result. This charter builds on the Guru Forum Charter and the platform standards in Appendix 2 of your Guru Agreement. You accept it before you take part, and again whenever a new version is published.
It summarises the Guru Forum Charter v1.0, which stays in force; where the two differ, the Forum Charter applies.
1. Who takes part
- Every Guru with an accepted agreement can read, post, reply and vote. Founding and Standard Gurus have the same rights: one Guru, one vote.
- The board is for Gurus and the MediumGuru team. Clients do not see it.
- Taking part is voluntary: never expected, never rewarded and never held against anyone. It has no effect on your commission, visibility, ranking or standing under your agreement.
- You remain free to work anywhere.
2. Thread types
- Discussion: talk through how something works or could work.
- Proposal: a feature or a change, with what and why. Only proposals take votes.
- Bug report: something that does not work as it should.
The team may also open polls to ask for your view.
3. What the board decides
- Votable: features; how the platform works for Gurus (dashboard, availability, requests, sessions, earnings view, profile tools, the apps); priorities between proposals; changes to this charter.
- Not votable: what the law requires of MediumGuru; client safety and the Safeguarding Policy; the commission percentage and the founding rate; the Consumer Terms; individual complaints or individual Gurus. MediumGuru says in the thread when a proposal falls into this category, and why.
- A major change to how the platform works for Gurus is put to the board before it is built.
4. How a proposal moves
- You vote by upvoting a proposal, and you can withdraw your vote.
- The proposal with the most votes enters the build queue first. If it cannot be built for a legal or technical reason, MediumGuru explains why in the thread and the next proposal moves up.
- Each proposal shows its status: Open, Planned, In progress, Done or Declined. A declined proposal always shows the reason.
- A proposal with votes that was not top-ranked stays on the list; you do not have to propose it again.
5. Conduct
The platform standards in Appendix 2 apply here as everywhere else:
- Communicate respectfully. No personal attacks.
- Do not share client information, and never post anything from a consultation or a reported session.
- Do not promote competing services on the board itself.
- Do not act in MediumGuru's name without authorisation.
The board is about the platform, not about how you work. Nothing on it is guidance or an instruction about how you conduct a consultation.
6. Moderation, warnings and appeal
- The MediumGuru team moderates the board. It can pin, lock or hide threads, hide posts, and block a member from posting, voting and answering polls; a blocked member can still read.
- Before a block takes effect, you are told the reasons in writing. You can ask for any moderation decision to be reviewed by a different team member.
- A breach of Appendix 2 can lead to a written warning under clause 11.4 of your agreement. Before a warning, you are told what has been reported and may respond within 7 days; you can ask for it to be reviewed by a person other than the one who issued it.
- Warnings concern only the law, consumer protection, end-user safety and the data-retention rules, never activity, availability, ratings or the way you conduct an otherwise compliant consultation.
7. What MediumGuru commits to
To read everything. To answer every proposal. To build the top-voted proposal first or explain why not. To put major Guru-facing changes to the board before building them. To change this charter only by a vote on the board, except where the law requires a change or the platform standards in Appendix 2 change, and to announce every change on the board at least 30 days before it takes effect (clause 13.2 of your agreement).
