How we work with Gurus
Who the Gurus are, how they are paid, and what we do and do not decide for them.
The Gurus work for themselves
The Gurus are self-employed professionals with their own practice. They are not employed by us. We provide the platform, the connection and the payment.
What a Guru keeps
Gurus keep 60 to 69 percent of what you pay. The rest covers the platform, payments, and support.
Dutch Gurus and Gurus without a VAT number pay 21% VAT on the commission; VAT-registered Dutch Gurus can reclaim it.
Do you select the Gurus on the platform?
No, and we are honest about that. MediumGuru is open to anyone who wants to work as a Guru. We do not test anyone on gifts, training or experience: we cannot judge that, and we do not think we should.
What you can go on are the experiences of other clients. Every profile shows the reviews earlier visitors left, and we publish them unfiltered: we do not remove a review because it is negative. Read them, take the time to compare a few profiles, and remember that you can end a consultation at any moment.
What we do instead: every Guru signs an agreement with rules about how you are treated. If a Guru does not keep to it, report it to us: we will address it with them or remove the profile.
What we tell Gurus

Am I an employee of MediumGuru?
No. Gurus on MediumGuru are independent professionals running their own practice, not employees of the platform. MediumGuru provides the platform, the connection to clients, and the payment processing; how and when you work is your own decision.
How do I set my rate?
You set your own per-minute rate for chat, and you can set separate rates for audio and video if you offer those channels. If you don't set a separate audio or video rate, it defaults to your chat rate. You can change your rate at any time.
How does commission work?
MediumGuru retains a commission on each session, deducted from the gross amount charged to the client; the remainder is your net amount. The commission rate applied to a session is fixed at the moment that session settles: standard 40 percent, or 31 percent for founding members. A later change to the standard rate never rewrites the commission already recorded on a past session.
How do I get paid?
Payouts run through Stripe Connect Express, directly to your own connected account. Your account needs payouts enabled before you can go online, since that's one of the platform's eligibility checks.
