Cookie policy
Version 1.1
The short version
We use no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no session recording. Nothing on this site follows you, builds a profile of you, or reports your visit to anyone else. What is left is a handful of things the platform needs in order to work at all, and one that remembers the language you picked.
1. What this covers
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on mediumguru.com: cookies, local storage, pixels, tags and device identifiers. We refer to all of them as cookies.
It does not cover what happens inside a consultation. Consultations are not recorded and no cookie or advertising technology has any access to them. That is explained in our Privacy policy at https://mediumguru.com/privacy.

2. The rule we apply
Under Article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act (Telecommunicatiewet) and the GDPR, we may place or read a cookie only where it is strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for, or where you have agreed to it.
There is no third option. We cannot rely on a "legitimate interest" to set an analytics or advertising cookie, and we do not attempt to.
3. How your choice works
Right now there is nothing to ask you. Everything in the list below is either strictly necessary or a direct result of something you did yourself, so no consent banner appears and none is needed.
That describes what we use today; it is not a promise never to change. If we ever introduce analytics, advertising or any other non-essential technology, these rules apply from the moment it is introduced:
- You are asked before it runs for the first time. It does not run while you have not answered.
- Refusing is as easy as agreeing. The reject button sits on the same screen, with the same prominence.
- Nothing is pre-ticked, and continuing to browse, scrolling or closing the banner is not agreement.
- There is no cookie wall. The platform works, and you can obtain a consultation, whether or not you agree to anything beyond the strictly necessary.
- When we introduce anything optional, a control will appear on this page to change your choice. Withdrawing will be as easy as agreeing was.
- We record what you chose and when, so we can show it. We ask again after six months, and sooner if what we use changes.

If you delete the functional cookies in your browser, nothing is lost: you are simply asked for your language again, and you pick your microphone again the next time you call.

The language cookie is set by what you choose on the page. It is never derived from your IP address.
6. Third parties
No analytics or advertising provider is in use, so there is no third party receiving data about your visit for those purposes.
One third party can set anything at all: Stripe, our payment provider. Its script runs on one screen, the one where you add a payment method, and only when you have chosen to do that. It is not present on the homepage, on a Guru profile, or in a consultation. Stripe uses it to tell a genuine payment from a fraudulent one, which is part of the payment you asked us to arrange.
Everything else you see on this site is served from our own domain, including the fonts. We do not load anything from a content-delivery network, an embedded video, a map, a social button or an external widget, because each of those would hand your IP address to someone else before you had asked for anything.
7. What we never do
- Nothing from inside a consultation ever reaches an advertising or analytics tag. No content, no transcript, no extract, no summary, no indication of what a consultation was about, and no indication of which Guru you consulted.
- We do not target advertising on inferred bereavement, grief, distress, health, faith, relationships or financial difficulty, and we do not build audiences on those signals.
- We do not use cookies to build a profile of you as an individual for advertising.
Today these hold for the simplest reason: there is no advertising or analytics system on the site. If that changes, they become technical restrictions built into how the systems are connected, not just promises.
8. Managing cookies yourself
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser, and set your browser to tell you when one is offered. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the platform will stop working: you may not be able to sign in or start a consultation.
9. If you visit from outside the Netherlands
The same rules apply wherever you are. This page is the only version; there is no separate one per country.
- Belgium: under the Belgian implementation of the ePrivacy rules and the GDPR, supervised by the Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données.
- Germany: under section 25 of the Telekommunikation-Digitale-Dienste-Datenschutz-Gesetz (TDDDG) and the GDPR, supervised by the data protection authority of your Land.
- France: under article 82 of the Loi Informatique et Libertés as applied by the CNIL, and the GDPR.
- United Kingdom: under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR, supervised by the ICO.
In every one of these the answer is the same as in the Netherlands: nothing beyond the strictly necessary is set without asking you first.
10. Changes
We update this policy whenever we change what we use. Where the change means new consent is needed, we ask again before the change takes effect.
Material changes are notified to your registered email address before they take effect.
